Robinson wins Class 2A title

Girls FINAL EXAMS!
2010 State Final exams put the best of the best in the Class 3A and 4A on the prestigious stage - Redbird Arena!

In the Class 3A final, Montini and Hillcrest battled back-and-forth, but no one was prepared for what would happen in the third quarter. Click here to read our coverage.

Third time is the charm! The table is all set and ready for its guest... Young vs. Bolingbrook!  This is their

At the start of every season, all teams have one common goal to not only win their respective conferences but to go  downstate. The R-I-C-Hs' advance!
Rich South handled their business Wednesday night over Joliet Catholic, 81-37 on their home court in the Class 3A regional.

As for Rich Central, they had to put in work in order to advance over (Chicago) Carver with a buzzer beater by senior Chris Smith with 7 seconds left in the game. For more, click here.

Crete & Brooks advance with ease
Crete and Brooks handle their business and advance to the Illiana regional finals Friday night. Both teams came out and made a B-I-G statement in their victories. For more click here.

As the girls tickets are being punched for the State finals, the boys are starting their quest for State... Who'll be on top? CLASS 3A: Hillcrest? Oswego? Springfield? Montini? CLASS 4A:  Bolingbrook? Hersey? Fenwick? Young? All of these teams will battle this weekend at Redbird Arena (Normal, IL). Click here for more.

A-L-I   B-U-M-A-Y-E!!!
Who said basketball is about height? In the sectional championship, it was the heart of 5'2" Ali that helped the Lady Hawks advance over number 1 seed T.F. North, 76-62. "They were so tall. I was just trying to get a foul and trying to make my free throws," Ali said after the game.  For more, click here.

Gyms are packed and full of energy...
As the playoffs move to sectionals (girls) and the 1A/2A boys tip-off, every team has high hopes of going downstate. The  dreams truly come full circle this week for many, and turns to nightmares for others. BIG sectional re-match gets things going Tuesday night over @ the Hillcrest sectional (Hillcrest vs Rich Central)... Whew!!!! We are locked and ready to go with our full coverage during these runs... 2010 McDonald's Rosters
Illinois lone roster spot belong to senior, Illinois recruit, Jereme Richmond was one of 24 boys basketball players named to the 2010 McDonald's All American team today. At the time of this writing, Richmond is averaging 21 points and 12 boards per game.  The McDonald's game will be played March 31 in Columbus, Ohio. To review rosters' click here.

CHESTERTON, Ind. — Inside a stuffy auxiliary high school gym at 10 a.m. Saturday, 65 miles from his home in Rosemont, 14-year-old Jahlil Okafor worked up a sweat working on his crossover dribble.

Dribble, dribble, cross. Dribble, dribble, cross. Between the left leg, then the right. Down the court and back.

2010 City-Suburban Showdown

What a wonderful weekend of sports... if Friday nights' public league championship game between Morgan Park (61) and Marshall (60) was the appetizer, then the entree' featured a three-course meal that was not only fulfilling, but absolutely delicious... For more on this entree, click here.

Lady Hawks continue on...

... to the sectional to face Rich Central. But first they had to play Oak Forest and what an offensive explosion this was... Kristyne Marshall had the hot hands in the contest knocking down 15 and grabbed 8 boards, followed by Ali who added 10. For more click here

Week Round-up February 15-21, 2010
It's P-L-A-Y-O-F-F- time... The girls class 3A and 4A have tipped off this week along with the 3-point shooting contest. On the other side of the ball, the boys are fighting for conference championships, bragging rights and final seeding positions, and as you have come to learn over the season... we were at many baselines covering these games... for more click here.

Lady Hawk soar in regionals...
Over the season, Hillcrest has been up and down in the opening quarter of games but not Wednesday night (2/17/10). The Lady Hawks put together a fast-paced, aggressive attack on Bremen which stifle their offensive abilities. For more click here.

2009 CPS Boys Basketball Showcase
This basketball showcase was played over two days over at Chicago State University in the Jones Convocation Center and featuring some of the best teams in the area, including the 2009 Class 4A champs, Whitney Young Dolphins, as well as their runner up counterparts, Thornton and North Lawndale. The Galaxy Girls Basketball Tournament tipped off last week and brought out some of the best talent in girls basketball including Harlan, Bloom Township, Bishop McNamara, Lincoln-Way North, Rich South, Shepard, Thornwood, and returning champion, Hillcrest Hawks. To read more, click here!

Rich South loses Head
Rich South senior Crandall Head, a 6-4 guard who has committed to Illinois, will have surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee on Sept. 29, Stars coach Scot Ritter said. Head injured his knee at an AAU tournament at the end of July. He originally thought it was a strain and tried to rehab the knee. A reevaluation of the injury determined it was a torn ACL. For more, click here!
