RICH SOUTH
- Macari Brooks makes his verbal commitment public and he has selected
DePaul. The 6'3" guard, who is ranked 60th (guard) in the class of 20100
by ESPN Recruiting has been scouted for his strong, athletic shooting
ability as well as his quick first step towards the basket. "I just like their style of play," Brooks said. "I think it fits me well. My style of play is I'm more up and down and physical. I'm like a Monta Ellis." |
Brooks' decision was also influenced by James Crockett's commitment to DePaul. The two players are close friends and play together on the Fire.
"Me and Jamie (Crockett) grew up together," Brooks said. "We're best friends. We always talked about how we could play ball together our whole life. Now, we're taking that to the next level." |
The pair also hopes to sway fellow Fire
teammates Mike Shaw, one of the nation's top forwards, to DePaul. Shaw is
nearing his decision and is considering the Blue Demons.
As you can see, DePaul coach Oliver Purnell is out to bring winning back to
Lincoln Park, but it appears as if he is also looking to return the fun.
Brooks also considered Iowa, Marquette and Providence.
"It's just going to be exciting. We can bring excitement to the crowd. We
plan on bringing DePaul back."
