Volume 1, No. 1
Sunday September 28th, the Country Club Hills Cougars kicked off their
Homecoming Celebration with a parade down 183rd Street. There were many
notables who came out to support the team including |

Mayor Welch,
who is always supportive of the positive activities of the kids in the
community. |
The games gave the fans an emotional roller coaster ride, as there were
many exciting plays and setbacks throughout the day.
The Widget team coached, by Laman Hudson, made a good showing, however, they
were unable to pull off the win. The Jets came up with the win with a final
score of 19-13. Unfortunately, the Jets were also able to pull off a 12-0
win over the Pee-Pee team coached by Douglas Moody.

The Junior Varsity team turned things around with a blow out over the
Jets. It was an exciting first play– 50 yard pass from Devante Brewer #7 to
Kijena Crawford #28 for touchdown for a 6-0 lead . ASNN asked the JV coach
Lee Coles what were some of the major contributions that lead to your win
over the Jets. He said “the 1st play off the game was a key factor to giving
us a lead and great momentum. In addition, strong runs from Joshua Cavley
#13 and Dillon Burns #5, and the strength of the whole defensive team were
key factors for our win.” The Cougars were determined not to let the Jets
score. The JV team ended the game with a win 18-0.
The Varsity team, coached by Harvey Haynes, kept the excitement going with
another win. Dillon Cazely #22 ran over 60 yards for a touchdown in 1st
Quarter to give the Cougars an early lead of 6-0. He also made at least 14
tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Excellent plays from Darius Wrice
#8, and William Adams #39 also contributed to the win. Wrice had several big
tackles including a huge sack of the Jet quarter- back. Adams caught a long
pass of approximately 40 yards from Deon Scott #53 for a touchdown in the
3rd quarter, for a score of 12-6. Also in the 3rd quarter, the Cougars
scored 2 points conversion with a kick by Nick Horne #35, finishing the
quarter with a score of 14-6. Adams also caught an interception in the 4th
quarter. The Cougar’s Defensive Line showed focus and determination and was
able to hold off the Jets from scoring in the 4th qtr. Homecoming 2008 came
to an end with a Cougar Varsity win - final score 14-6.
