A Camp You Want To Get To Know...

MATTESON - Coach John Kidd III and the family over at St. Lawrence O'Tooles' parish provides our kids a wonder opportunity. They are offering kids from grades 4th through 8th a very impressive environment where participants are learning the fundamentals of basketball in a non-pressured environment. Regardless of their playing ability, Coach Kidd is able to spend one-on-time with the kids.

We sat through a couple of the drills and just to see the kids pure determination and relentless effort was absolutely amazing. Not to mention their ability to understand the jargon associated with basketball.

During one drills the kids we running screen shots from about 20' on the left side of the basketball and were able to shoot the ball clean and score a couple of times, but when they ran the same set from the right, they felt the power of kryptonite. For several shots the basket seemed to have a lid on it until Coach Kidd reminded them to relax and concentrate... shortly after this, they not only gained their confidence but they also obtained solid rhythm and hit several shot in row.

Many of the participants have never played organized sports before not to mention basketball. But again, this is what the O'Toole's camp is all about.

Coach Kidd has several aspirations he would like to accomplish during the camps, but one thing is for sure, he wants kids that come through this camp to understand the "fundamentals of basketball."
