Lady Hawks capture conference title

OAK FOREST - The South Suburban Conference tournament title was on the line Friday night in Oak Forest where the Hillcrest Lady Hawks seek revenge for a surprising loss earlier in the season 74-59.

In front of a hostile crowd, Uniquah Hampton and Juanita Robinson turn it on. Ms. Hampton finished the game with 13 points and 10 boards, while Ms. Robinson added 13 points.

Kristyne Smith, of Oak Forest, scored 19 points to lead the Bengals on the evening.

Prior to this game, Oak Forest (17-11) won 11 in a row behind Jen Swanson, Becky Bylina and Kristyne Smyth. Since that early loss to Oak Forest, the Lady Hawks (22-4) have six straight victories, including one over highly ranked T.F. North a couple of weeks ago.

Right now, the Lady Hawks await their opponent, either Crete-Monee or Bremen, for the Class 3A playoffs at Bremen high school, February 17 at 6pm. We'll see you there!
