Can the Mount Carmel knock off the Providence and capture a share of the Catholic Blue title? Last season, the Caravan loss 24-18 to the Celtics. In an offenseless contest Mount Carmel snags a victory over Providence 17-0 in Friday's Chicago Catholic League Blue game. The Caravan forced six turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown. Mount Carmel senior Vincent Speller had the biggest play, scooping up a fumble and racing 88 yards for a touchdown late in the second quarter. "Scoop and score," Speller said of his mindset. "Providence beat us last year. We were on the road to redemption. We had a lot of anger." The game turned into a defensive battle filled with turnovers and penalties. The Caravan finished with 162 total yards, with punter Joe Pavlik (15-yard run) tallying half of quarterback Don Butkus' total offensive output.
