Dodgers rookie John Ely grew up in south suburban Homewood but never made the trip north to Wrigley Field until he was done with college.
"This was enemy grounds, so to speak," Ely said. "I was a true Sox fan growing up, but not so much nowadays. I can't say that anymore."

How to improve baseball
When you think of baseball, you immediately think of warm weather, apple pie, statistics and tradition. Now those are the favorable thoughts that come to mind… on the other side of the plate, many people think of stubbornness, lack of parity, egoistic, vain, and boring.  For as much progress as there has been in sports, there are still some old practices and notions that ought to be reexamined in Major League Baseball (MLB). The fields there are so shoddy that the team has had to play most home games on baseball diamonds they made themselves on open space elsewhere in the park.
