Dolphins Lap Vikings HILLSIDE - Whitney Young’s recent trip to Hawaii is being discussed as a major step in the Dolphins becoming a team rather than a group of big name players at the high school level. This transformation took place when the players were allegedly sitting on the beach in Hawaii, and they just started talking. They all began opening up on when they needed to do to come together and connect on the same vision of capturing a city and state championship. An important note is no coaches were present when the players had this discussion. On this afternoon, the Dolphins came out and just outstroke the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings from the tip of the game. They went on a double-digit lead before 3 minutes were played in the game. This surge was led by senior, Chris Colvin, who finished the game with 12 points, 8 assists, 4 steals and 2 rebounds. “We all decided to sacrifice something,” Colvin said. “I committed to giving up shots. We know we needed to change. We just didn’t put into effect. It’s gone into effect now.” The Dolphin had a 40 - 16 halftime lead. “It’s a point of emphasis for us as a team. We all know we got a collection of talent here. It’s been a problem putting it together in the last few years,” Young's coach Tyrone Slaughter said after the game. Referring to Colvin, coach Slaughter said “he’s the quintessential reason for the way we’ve played the last two days. He’s taken one jump shot in the last two games.” I guess we are seeing a brand new Whitney Young Dolphin (9-4) basketball team. Whew… This could be dangerous for their opposition moving forward. Stay tune!!! The Vikings (7-5) were led by Courtney Jones’
with 8 points. Final Score was Young 70, Homewood-Flossmoor 40
