Wildcats out pace OlympiansRICHTON PARK - This opening game between Rich Central (2-7) and Thornton (8-1) was a SICA conference game. The Olympians played the first quarter pretty close but the Wildcats opened up and went on a balanaced attack. The score at halftime was 37 - 28 Wildcats and they never looked back. One of the second half highlights came from 6' 3" senior forward, Trevell Rivers, who had a break-away dunk that missed and flew off the back of rim. The missed dunk isn't the story, the story is how high he was able to elevate to the rim. After the game Rivers joked the missed the dunk off by saying “I didn’t realize how high I was and I decided to dunk it.” “He can be an all-stater,” Thornton coach Troy Jackson said. “Without him, I don’t know where we’d be. We don’t have much size. He can jump with the best of them.” Rivers scored 12 points, grabbed a game-high
18 rebounds and blocked two shots in Thornton’s 64-52 first-round win.
