Mustangs tame Wildcats

CHICAGO - What a Friday night special this game was... under cold, windy conditions both teams had their eyes set for victory, but as we all know only one can actually win a playoff game and tonight, well it was St. Rita's night.

Two-way player Dave Marciano intercepted a pass and returned it 42 yards to set up touchdowns in the second quarter.

Thornton had there share of opportunities too. They recovered a fumble then a quick 5 yard pass from Darren Jones to Dante Glover which made the score 14 - 13 due to a failed extra point attempt.  Jones kept St. Rita on their toes the entire second half tossing the long ball all over the field until an interception by Gerald Ponio which began to change the tide. The Mustangs then drove down their home field 59 yards on 10 plays to take the final lead of the game. Jones finished the game with over 200 yards in the air.

The Mustangs offense exploded with statistics but were contained and the score was very close. For example Johwon Akui rushed for over 180 yards and Dave Marciano scored three times on the night.

Final Score: 21 - 13
