St. Rita tames LeoChicago - On rain-soaked field, (our number 2) St. Rita Mustangs continued to roll with a strong performance today against Leo high school in a Catholic league match-up and Amateur Sports News Network was there. Leo started the game off controlling the clock. They controlled the ball well over 9 minutes in the opening possession but fail to execute a score. In the second half, the Mustangs then advantage of the good field position and kicked their game into high gear. Quarterback Lawrence Garrett threw two touchdown passes on the afternoon, a 36 yard and a 15 yard.
Once Dave Marciano scored on a 4th-and-goal attempt in the second half, St. Rita never looked back. The mustangs began to run in a full stride up and down the soaked turf of Gately stadium running off 31 straight points.
St. Rita's defense held Leo to -26 yards in the second and third quarter. There were some questionable calls against Leo and they were unable to overcome them.
Leo did score late in the fourth quarter on a pass from Darwin Rogers to Paul Beene. Another bright spot for Leo was their running back Robert Morgan who finished the game with 67 yards and 20 carries.
