Homecoming weekend for the Matteson Bears

Matteson - Mother nature received the memo to be on "good" behavior for this weekends events. With absolutely perfect weather, the Matteson Bears hosted the Kankakee Eastside Bulldogs for their homecoming festivities. Before I get into the games, let me recap the weekend:

The Matteson Youth Athletic Association (MYAA) kicked things off with a fabulous dance at Colin Powell Middle School. They really put on a fabulous event for the kids in a safe, festive atmosphere.  From the food to the music to the decoration, the homecoming committee out-performed their expectations.

Now, for the football game. As many followers of the MYAC know, homecoming weekend is a "throwback" weekend... a throwback to the 70's. And as you can see, the king of "throwback" weekend was none other than the President Ray Evans. He was going to wear his platform, fish-bowl shoes but he couldn't get any fish in time for the event (smile).

Even Mascot Bob came out... I have to give him credit to come out in the heat on this day showed his dedication for the kids...

Even the coaches and parents performed during halftime and performed they did... they showed the kids they not only do they still have it, but what the kids do today has already been done...

Oh yeah, there was some great football played too....  The Bears' won 4 out of 5 games.  See the Bears game on the home page for the details and pictures.

Also during the homecoming festivities, we, Amateur Sports News Network, (ASNN) officially launched our magazine featuring the Matteson Bears. Our launch, which is part of a fundraiser for the organization, went very well.  Parents and coaches, we ask that you  please  to subscribe to the *magazine and ask your circle of influence (family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.) to do the same.  The more people that support the *magazine and web site, the more exposure we can get for our young people as well as  funds for the organization.  Don't forget we still have some advertising opportunities available.

The Matteson Youth Athletic Association really practiced their motto this weekend "Kids first" with all of their dedicated, hard-work, and Amateur Sports News Network truly believe they are making a difference with these kids.  Keep up the EXCELLENT job and thanks for allowing ASNN to be apart of the weekend.

And finally, we took tons and tons of pictures during all of the events.  You could review our gallery by clicking here.

*Remember the magazine is distributed across the whole South Chicagoland Area and South Suburbs.  You can find the necessary forms on our web site as well as on the Bears site.
