Lady Hawks moves on to the Supers....

PARK FOREST - As the old famous quote goes... "offense sells tickets, defense wins games!" Tonight, that quote got tested... and well, it sort of stood this test.

The Hillcrest Lady Hawks (26-4) came out smothering all-conference senior,  Erin Stahurski, forcing other players to step up. Their defensive pressure force a few turnovers resulting in an early, commanding lead of 13 - 4 at the end of the first period.

The Indians (25-6) were not able to regroup from this point. They were able to bring the game within 9 points but every time they scored one basket, the Lady Hawks seemed to score two.

Behind the hot shooting of sophomore Juanita Robinson, who finished with 22, the Lady Hawks established their perimeter game, and down in the block, with senior Ariel Rouse and junior Uniquah Hampton, they control the boards.

Ms. Robinson hit four big 3-point shots on the evening and seemed to find her comfort zone from downtown. "I'm starting to hit my shots from back there," she said after the game.

Ms. Hampton aggressive play almost got the best of her when she picked up three fouls at the 3:18 mark in the second period. "Juanita (Robinson) helped me out after I picked up my three fouls early," said Ms. Hampton. "Coach just told me to hold my composure

and calm down. Just play."

"We got contributions from all of our players," said Coach Maniatis. "Defensively was wanted to limit Erin's touches by containing her in the pain with senior Ariel Rouse and sophomore Yolanda De La Torre. Plus, Shannise Heady  showed her mustard as an up and coming freshmen." Ms. Heady finished with 13 points from her aggressive play.
