Spartans handle Vikings

FRANKFORT - On a night that was somewhat tarnished by the economic news from Marian Catholic (16-13), the basketball team was able to rise above this to upset Homewood-Flossmoor (23-6) behind the hold hand of Chris Haskin who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Final score 75-70. "Every game our coach has been telling us we haven't reached our limit, but I think after this game we are

getting there," Haskin said.

Brian Johnson followed with 20 points, Danny Banici with 19.

On the other side of the ball, the Vikings were in the game for 28 of the 32 minutes of the game with the steaming hands of Jeremy Saffold, who finished with 38 points. at the 2:59 mark in the fourth quarter, he had more than half of the teams point total all by himself.

Richard Pinto hit a 50' footer to end of the third quarter which ignited the team as well as the Spartan faithful.

The Spartans move on to the Sectional championship round to play number 1 Thornton Wildcats, Friday night @ Lincoln-Way North (730pm start).
