Undefeated no more.... as Benet defeats Marist 34-24 Friday night at Benedictine University in Lisle.

The Redwings' Porter Ontko and Jack Toner led the way offensively, as Ontko finished with 137 total yards of offense, and Toner snagged two touchdown passes.

Benet led 20-10 at halftime and then stretched their lead out to 34-10 in the third quarter, but as we found out this season, you can never count out the RedHawks, as they began another late comeback. Ian Woodworth threw for nearly 300 yards but was intercepted three times as the Marist offense was kept in check much of the night, but their efforts were a little short.

Coming into the game, the RedHawks were very emotional as receiver Nic Weishar, whose older brother, Andrew, died Friday after a two-year battle with colon cancer. Weishar turned in a remarkable performance, catching 13 passes for 133 yards.

"That's the character of Nic, and the character of the family," Marist coach Pat Dunne said. "That's who Nic is. Nic and his family are the strongest people I've ever seen. They are our family, too."
