Mount Carmel 56, Brother Rice 7
This should
be a classic
Catholic Blue contest for the ages... Why?
Coming into the game,
Brother Rice (3-1, 1-0) has played underdog
defeating conference foe,
St. Rita last week, as QB Matt Page threw for
more than 400 yards (1,257 yards, 13 TDs). Now, this
Friday they face the Caravan (4-0, 0-0) from cross
town. Mount Carmel, our number 2 ranked team, just too much for Brother Rice as they win 56-7. The Caravan had over 300 yards from their option offense at halftime that built a 42-7 lead including Matt Domer (12 carries, 176 yards, 4 TDs) who ran for three touchdowns, Draco Smith rushed for over 100 yards and a single touchdown. "We just read the defense and ran around it," said Domer, who finished with four touchdowns. "We have different options, and we just take what they give us." Mount Carmel coach Frank Lenti, who extended his state-record victory total to 308, said: "The kids were really focused. Rice is a very good football team. I would have never bet anything like this was going to happen. We just caught fire and just kept right on going." The Crusaders running back, Marcus Jones, finished this tough contest with 12 carries, 113 yards, 1 TD. We were the official Maxpreps scorer for this varsity football game.
