The HEAT is on at the American Classic Cheer Competition

St. Charles - On November 20^th & 21^st local cheerleaders showcased their skills at The American Classic Cheer Competition at the Pheasant Run Convention Center in St. Charles, IL.  Amateur Sports was in the house for round 2.  First, let me start by saying that I was impressed by the set up.  It was very creative and included lighted columns and a Star designed entrance, with steps, for the cheerleaders to come out on to the floor, in style.  They even had a “team cheer section” in the front so the members, coaches and parents of the performing team could come up front and cheer their team on.  The only thing missing was bleacher style seating so that everyone could have a great view.

All of the teams put on a great show.  Here are a few wow moments including aerial back flips and dual crossing toss stunts:

We caught up with the Debbie Jankowski, Director of the Heat Elite All Stars  (New Lenox, IL ) a beloved team from the South Chicagoland area to congratulate them on their 1^st place win in the Sr. Level 3 Division and their Jr. Level 2 win of the coveted “Sportsmanship” Award.   She said “I am so proud of all of our girls, they have worked very hard”.  Also winning the “Sportsmanship” Award is Midwest Explosion’s TNT (previously featured in Amateur Sports Winter 2009 issue).

The thing I was most impressed with is the awesome display by the Special Needs Teams.  The Cheer Illinois Athletic Stars Elite, the Heat Elite Fire Crackers and the Cheer Alliance Wildcats wowed the audience with their skills and showmanship.  Each team was presented with an award for their awesome performance.  Kudos to the organizations that take the time to develop and showcase the talents of our Special Athletes.
