Boys Class 4A Sectional Semifinals at Argo High School
Simeon (29-1) continues their winning ways knocking off their nemesis, Whitney Young (16-10), in the Class 4a Sectionals 52-42 Tuesday night at Argo high school.

Jahlil Okafor was hot in the first half - leading the the Dolphins in scoring with 9 points, and holding a 3-point lead at halftime. So in the second half, the Wolverine's attacked the guards fast and hard, preventing them to set up their offense and prevent Okafor from getting the ball. In fact, Simeon collapsed so well on the Young guards, that Okafor didn't in the fourth period.

"He's a great player," Simeon coach Robert Smith said. "It's hard to stop him. He's a load. Once again Steve Taylor stepped up and guarded a 6-10 kid and was able to contain him. And we just took the ball out of his hands and made other people make plays. We have been playing really well in the second half. But you can't get down against good teams, though, because you might not get a chance to get back."

Steve Taylor tied it with a quick 3-pointer to start the second half, then Jabari Parker and Reggie Norris followed with two more big shots from downtown. Shortly afterwards, the icing on the cake came when Kendrick Nunn unselfishly fed Parker the ball and he finished with a tomahawk dunk that brought more than 2,400 people to their feet, including some Young fans.

The Wolverines outscored Young 17-4 in the third to take a 38-28 lead.

"We were only down three at half, and for us that was great because as bad as we played we should have been down double digits," Smith said. "We all stepped up. We know everybody is going to focus on Jabari so much that other guys have to step up and make plays."

So, I guess it's true, when Parker and Jahlil Okafor are on the same court, guys like Mike Krzyzewski, Tom Izzo, Bruce Webber, Thad Matta and Rahm Emanuel all show up to watch.

Parker finished with 18 points and 6 boards, followed by Kendrick Nunn, who added 11. Miles Reynolds led the Dolphins with 13 points.

Moving forward, I'm not sure if any team has faced a team like this, especially with a player like Neely, a steady floor leader, who played a major role in each of Simeon's back-to-back 4A championships then a complete package of bigs...

Simeon will play the winner of Wednesday night's Bogan-Marist sectional on Friday night at 7:30pm. I highly advise that you get there early... tickets will be at a premium!
