Boys Class 4A Sectional Finals at Lockport High School - tip off at 7:30pm
Bloom knocked off Homewood-Flossmoor 43-32 in the Sectional finals behind the stud play of Donald Moore. His leadership seemed to carry the team when they needed it the most.

His Blazing Trojans (27-3) went without a field goal in the fourth quarter, but Moore hit 12 of 13 free-throw attempts in the final 6 minutes, 52 seconds to help Bloom to a 43-32 win over Homewood-Flossmoor.

"We knew they'd make a run at us in the fourth; we just needed to keep our composure," said Moore, who finished with 20 points. "I kept thinking to myself, if I miss a free throw, we're going to lose. So I had to knock them down for our team."

They used a 9-0 run early to set the tempo and pace of the game and at this point they stretched out to their biggest lead 23-13. But like any other Blazin' Trojan game this season, turnovers down the stretch gave the Vikings a spark for a comeback.

Maurius Hill (9 points, 9 rebounds) paced a 6-0 Vikings run midway through the third, and H-F (22-8) closed to within two twice, the last time at 31-29 with 4:36 left.

Shortly after that, Mr. Moore took the team under his wing, hitting all 10 of his free-throw attempts in the final 4:31 to help Bloom pull away and earn a ride off the court on the shoulders of his teammates. H-F drew within 35-32 with 2:48 left, but did not score again.

Bloom advances to play Edwardsville in a supersectional at Illinois State on Tuesday.
