week 3 - Will-Cook-Kankakee youth association
What a fabulous day of
football... During Week 3, we were in Park Forest to
witness two new
teams to the WCK play. Before we recap the Chicago Heights - Park Forest games, the longest widget game (Matteson-Chicago) was played and finished in a tie (6-6). At the time of this writing, it has been reported that the officials were late to start the contest and once the game was started, lots and lots of penalty flags were called slowing down the game tremendously. Thus, it was reported that the Widget game took a little over two hours to complete causing a trickle down effect on the remaining games starting later than expected. Again, this game ended in a tie with NO overtime. W-O-W! For more weekend scores, click here. Now on to our game of the week... Panthers and the Hurricanes. In the first game, WIDGETS, it was Chicago Heights that set the tempo of the game behind the speed and vision of Mr. Jaylen Bills, who scored not once... not twice... but three times on the afternoon leading the Panthers to a 18-14 victory over the Hurricanes. With all of the fantastic play of Mr. Bills, the Hurricanes didn't stop playing... they answered each score with one of there own. In fact, this game came down to the final seconds of play. More specifically, there were three touchdowns in the last 150 seconds of the game.
Park Forest scored twice and one was made by Mr. Marcus Gellispie on a quarterback keeper. On a side note, this was one of the best Widget games I've witnessed in a long time. Congratulations to both teams.
In the second game, PEEWEES', it proved to be a high scoring face-paced game led completely by the home team - Park Forest Hurricanes. The PeeWee Hurricanes got on the board with a 12 yard run by Mr. Nick Lindley and never looked back. Final score 40-0. NOTE: Mr. Lindley scored three times in the contest. In the JUNIOR VARSITY game, the high-powered offense of the Hurricanes out-scored the Panthers 34-0 at the half, which also was the final score of the game. In this contest, Park Forest JV team opened up their playbook and jumped out right away with a kickoff return for the first touch down by Mr. Parker Deloatch. On their next possession, Mr. Kevin Pate received a 22 yard touchdown pass (12-0). Mr. Pate also scored again later in the first quarter (18-0). Mr. Aarin "AJ" Lacy also got into the endzone in the second quarter (25-0). The final score for the Hurricanes was made by Deronte' Pope, who intercepted a pass and ran it back for 75 yards (34-0) right before the half.
In the final game of the day (VARSITY), illustrated the definition of a hurricane (an intense, and sometimes violent wind rotating oceanic weather system that possesses maximum sustained winds exceeding 74 mph) against the Panthers. Park Forest scored on their first four possessions and never looked back... In fact, the first play of the game, they scored on a 51 yard run by number 23 (6-0). Then after a defensive hold, the Hurricanes received the ball back and on their second possession, first play by Mr. Marcus Aldridge, who sprinted down the field for 29 yard touchdown run (12-0). Mr. Aldridge also scored three more times in the game including on a 30 yard pass and two additional runs. Mr. Kelesy Pickett, Mr. Renardo Jones and Mr. Jaujin Barnes also got into the endzone. Final score 52-0. Up next for the Hurricanes will be Riverside, and the Panthers will face Markham. Good luck to both teams and thanks for the hospitality Park Forest.
