The top-seeded RedHawks trailed for most of the first three quarters. They fought through some early butterflies and a determined Spartans squad to seize control with an 18-0 fourth-quarter burst.

Leah Bolton had 25 points and 8 rebounds, Randyll Butler had 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Claire Ryan added 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals for Marist (31-1). Ashton Millender had 16 points and 6 rebounds, and Ambr Williams added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the MC (21-12) loss.

The Wolverines are now 6-0 against the other top teams in their sectional after disposing of De La Salle 59-51 in the finale of the City-Suburban Showdown on Saturday night at Proviso West in Hillside.

Jabari Parker had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Kendrick Nunn added 14 points and three steals for Simeon (26-1), which did not fall victim to a letdown the night after celebrating its first city championship since 2007.

"It is a lot of confidence going in," Parker said. "But like Coach Rob (Smith) said in the locker room, we can't end up like Benet did last year, losing to a team that wasn't ranked in the top 10, so we have to keep on playing hard and keep on playing smart.

After combining for just two first-half points, juniors Gavin Schilling (10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Marcus White (14 points, 3 steals) breathed life into De La Salle (15-6) after halftime.

On the ropes throughout but never quite out, De La Salle got within 44-37 on a strong move by Schilling with 6 minutes, 10 seconds to play.

White then hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut Simeon's lead to 54-49 with 1:38 left before the Wolverines sealed the victory from the foul line.

"It was kind of personal for me," Parker said. "My brother (Christian Parker) went there. He really didn't get an opportunity over there, so I really wanted to give it to them."
