What do you value most?

Hello Folks!
As a financial consultant, I have learned that people will invest in what they believe is important.
Clothing, transportation, housing, hair/body maintenance, education and entertainment are things that generally rate high on the list of importance for most people.

I am finding myself puzzled that many of us do not (in an obvious way) invest more in our HEALTH! Some of us think we are, but we aren't. Just popping a few vitamins and drinking water everyday is not the whole answer..... Let me be clear and I know you hear it all of the time....YOUR HEALTH DIRECTLY IMPACTS YOU and YOUR FAMILY'S WEALTH!!!!!!

For those of you reading this that are in your 20's, 30's and 40's, even 50's and you are not actively exercising and watching your diet...Shame On You! Yes, I said it! I am calling out this demographic because many people at this age can make changes right now, if you haven't already, that can change the future impact of your health on your wealth.
To make it plain, if you are overweight, you increase your chances of becoming diabetic, developing heart disease, high blood pressure, joint issues, stroke and list goes on. All of us may know someone who was born Diabetic or with some health issues, I am not necessarily including them in this message. However, I am encouraging all of you (if you haven't already) to slow down for a minute, STOP and make an assessment of how
you are living your life and what's really important to you.

Some of you that read this message are my clients and you know that I am particularly passionate about taking care of the life insurance needs of everyone in your family. If you don't have life insurance, particularly if you have children, please contact me.

All of this ties together because there many people who are forsaking their health.
They say, "I just don't have time to exercise", or "I don't have money to go to a gym". Add to that, many people are not being conscious about what they are eating. Too much salt (you know how many us want are food seasoned), too much sugar, too much trans fat, eating and going to sleep...when you add this to a person not getting any exercise...this is an equation for a HEALTH PROBLEMS or DEATH! This will directly impact you and your family financially!
This is especially true for people who don't have health or disability insurance, critical illness coverage, or life insurance.

If you cannot afford a gym membership, grab a friend and go to your local mall to walk (not shop) or weather permitting go to a local park and walk/run a few laps. Also, for those of you who have a DVD player, invest in some exercise DVD's or if you have an XBOX or Playstation they have exercise games you can physically play.

Guess what? Insurance companies hire people smarter than me and you who rate risk. If you know someone who has been denied life or health insurance coverage, more than likely, it because of health issues....most of your reputable insurance companies will assess your health in some way...even if you don't do a blood or urine test or some type of medical exam, they will check your medical records! In some cases I know of people denied coverage just because of their "build". I have had clients referred to me who were denied coverage elsewhere just because their height and weight were off balance...for example, a 50 year old man who is 6'2 and over 280 pounds. I have met with people who have to take 5 - 10 medications a day just to stay alive, it saddens me but I try to help them!

The older you get, especially over the age of 60, the more expensive life insurance becomes and even more so if you have HEALTH PROBLEMS! I don't want to even talk about people who SMOKE!

Many of you reading this are African American, we literally cannot afford to be unhealthy! Health insurance costs are up, prescription medicine costs are up, out of pocket costs are up...the list goes on.

If you have life insurance coverage now and you are in your 20's, 30's, 40's or even your 50's ...I am happy you made a great financial decision, but do yourself a favor and try to stay healthy so that you can continue to build wealth. Make sure you get a yearly financial check-up with a licensed professional or call me. Make sure the money you are investing is making money for you!

I am encouraging you to assess or reassess what is important to you. Write it down, put together a plan and stick to it...whatever you do, stay in tune with your health...you have people who love you and are depending on you! The list should look something like this:

Diet, Exercise, Family/Spiritual, Work, Budget, Debt, Credit etc....
