Rich Central senior Shawn Mitchell has committed.... The 5'10, 165 pound south suburban wide receiver made his selection after another official visit this past weekend and his choice is...

"I had a great official visit this past weekend to Southern Illinois," Mitchell said. "I came home and talked things over with my family after the visit and I called up the coaches at SIU and gave them my verbal commitment." Mitchell talked about why he decided to pledge to the SIU Salukis.

"The official visit went great to SIU and that is what really sold me on the school and the football program. SIU has amazing facilities and a brand new stadium as well. The weight room is amazing and just the whole vibe on campus was great. Everyone was really great all weekend long to myself and my family and I could just feel the love at SIU all weekend long. SIU definitely has a plan for me and I like the fact that it's a good distance from home but it's also not too far."

Again, congratulations Mr. Mitchell and the Mitchell family!!!
