It's make or break-it weekend and the scheduling gods put some really interesting rivalries and teams on the field at the same time.

Things get started Thursday night at 7p with Morgan Park playing Hubbard at Gately. This game has some public league implications attached to it.

Now, for Friday Night lights...

RICH SOUTH @ CRETE-MONEE, Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Can the Warriors (7-0, 3-0) run the table in the Southland conference? Or, will the Stars shine under the lights and stop their winning ways? If Rich South (3-4, 3-1) is able to squeak out a victory over the undefeated Warriors, not only would it be an upset, but it also could push the south suburban team up enough to be on the virtual fence for a playoff berth and into first place.

MOUNT CARMEL @ ST. RITA, Friday at 7:30 p.m. (ME-TV)

Two top defenses in the Chicagoland area representing a top South Side rivalry game on Friday night... LIFE IS GOOD!!! Both teams share the same record overall (6-1) but the Mustangs has the conference edge 2-0 over the Caravan 1-1. If you love competitive, legacy-style rivalries, then pack your bags now and head over to 7800 Western... Not only does this game put the winner in a driving seat going into the playoffs but it gives a team 365 days of bragging rights, which in most cases is more important.

LOYOLA @ BROTHER RICE, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
In this week 8 match-up, undefeated Loyola can’t afford to look ahead to next weeks showdown against St. Rita because they are visiting the dangerous 5-2 Brother Rice team led by Andrew and Martez Walker. The Ramblers will rely on the elusive quarterback, Malcolm Weaver, and their receiving corps.

NOTE: This game will have major Catholic Blue title implications.

ANDREW @ LINCOLN-WAY NORTH, Friday at 7 p.m.

Both teams coming off substantial victories faceoff. Andrew follows the lead of their QB, Tyler Hook (72-of-122, 884 yards), RBs Jarvis Franklin (107 carries, 608 yards) and Dennis Vilimek, and receiver Joe Sanfilippo (28 catches, 336 yards) will spread the Phoenix defense around quite a bit. For North, Jake Dixon will need to come up big out of the backfield. The same thing for QB Jake Wittman (51-of-89, 613).

SANDBURG @ LOCKPORT, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams have identical records and need that 6th victory to secure a playoff berth. Sandburg came off of a 24 point loss against Bolingbrook (27-3) and just couldn't get things going. The Eagles defense will have its hands full containing Porters QB Billy Reed, who has a go-to WR in Mike Haldemann. RB Dexter Taylor will get chances to get the Porters’ ground game rolling. The Eagles offense will try to rebound after sputtering against Bolingbrook. It might be time to allow QB Anthony Adams (38-of-78, 527 yards) more opportunities to throw the rock. Sandburg K Teddy Vergados could be the difference.

During the month of October, 20% of ALL proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Research in my mother (in-law) Dorothy Fitch and sister (in-law) Dawn Williams names.
