We love sports, but we all recognize that sports has some serious issues and not just the BCS either. There's flopping... PEDs, Baseball, all Canadian teams, college coaches leaving whenever they want to, but students have a penalty if they elect to leave/transfer, and of course instant reply. Now our suggestions will not totally fix everything but it's an excellent starting point.

RULE 1: UNIVERSAL INSTANT REPLAY

ALL sports need some type of instant replay... The game is faster... players are bigger... and let's face it, the technology is already available, why not use it. I understand some replay stuff takes the human element out of it but so what. In no way am I recommending EVERY play be replayed... more specifically scoring plays (with the exception of basketball-unless a three-pointer or quarter/game ending score). To there advantage, NFL reviews all touchdowns... that's an excellent use of technology. Baseball, well, they are still using a Commodore 64.

RULE 2: ALL BASEBALL PLAYERS MUST BAT
Is it just me, or is it annoying as hell to have an entire league that allows the pitchers to just pitch? So, they can throw several 97 mph 'high-cheese" fast-balls and never, ever have to face the same intimidation.... That's not right!

RULE 3: SPEED UP THE PLAY OF BASEBALL
Not only is baseball overall boring for lack of action, the game has been allowed to slow down so much that's it's annoying for fans - in the stadium, as well as on television.
*Limit Catcher, manager visits... one per inning!
*If a pitcher leaves the mound, other than fielding a ground ball, it's an automatic ball to the batter.
*If a batter steps out of the box, other than an injury, it's a strike for the pitcher.
*A batter gets 5 foul balls per bat.

RULE 4: GET RID OF THE POSSESSION ARROW IN BASKETBALL
A team shouldn't be penalized for playing defense and disrupting a play to have an arrow decide who gets the ball... jump it off!
NOTE: except in girls basketball

RULE 5: ALLOW 10-12 SECONDS FOR TOUCHDOWN CELEBRATIONS
The NFL needs to lighten up and remember that this is a game for entertainment - PERIOD!

RULE 6: FOOTBALL UNIFICATION
It's time for the NCAA and NFL to use the same rules...
A BALL CARRIER IS DOWN WHEN....
*NCAA: his knee touches the ground regardless of who touches him
*NFL: when a player is tackled (touched) by the opponent
*2012 RULE: NFL rule rules works best... the opponent must touch you in some capacity in order to be ruled down.

HASH MARKS
*NCAA: 60 feet from each sideline - 40 feet apart
*NFL: 70'9" from each sideline - 18'6" apart
*2012 RULE: NCAA gets it right... field goals are far to easy in NFL.

DEFENSIVE PASS INTERFERENCE
*NCAA: a maximum of 15 yards
*NFL: where the foul took place.
*2012 RULE: NCAA gets it right here... you can not treat every pass interference the same.

OVERTIME
*NCAA: Team that won coin toss gets ball at 25-yard line; keeps ball until it scores a TD, kicks a field goal, or fails to get a 1st down; opponent then gets the ball on the 25-yard line to attempt to do the same. If the first team doesn't score and the second team scores, the second team wins.
*NFL: The team scoring first during overtime play shall be the winner and the game with the exception of the playoffs.... in the playoffs, play will be continued in 15-minute periods until a winner is declared. Each team must possess or have the opportunity to possess the ball unless the team that has the ball first scores a touchdown on its initial possession. Play continues in sudden death until a winner is determined, and the game automatically ends upon any score (by safety, field goal, or touchdown) or when a score is awarded by the Referee for a palpably unfair act. Each team has three time-outs per half and all general timing provisions apply as during a regular game. The try is not attempted if a touchdown is scored. Disqualified players are not allowed to return.

*2012: Put 10 minutes on the clock and each team continues to play until the clock is zero. Meaning you just play the game just like you did the previous 48 minutes of play. If you outscore your opponent during this extra session, you win.

RULE 7: ELIMINATE THE NBA'S AGE LIMIT...
If you can vote, you should be allowed to work - PERIOD!!!

RULE 8: SEED NBA TEAMS REGARDLESS OF CONFERENCE

RULE 9: STOP PROTECTING THE QUARTERBACK SO DAYUM MUCH

RULE 10: ALLOW FREE DROPS FROM FAIRWAY DIVOTS

If a golfer drives the ball straight down the fairway but the balls lands on a divot someone didn't repair properly, he/she shouldn't be penalized. Our the golfer to drop the ball without penalty behind the divot.
