Dimitrius Hardwick scored two touchdowns and Damien Bell rushed 24 times for 183 yards and two touchdowns as Thornton rallied to edge Andrew 27-24 in overtime in a Southwest Suburban Red opener on Saturday in Harvey.

Simeon 46, Morgan Park 16

The Wolverines offensive tag team tandem of Robert Gregory and Horatio Banks proved t-o-o much for the Mustangs Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd at Gately as they easily won 48-16.

Chris Salata, Chicago Tribune

Banks ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns and of that number, 117 was accomplished in the first-half.

Gregory also turned up BIG tonight with two long passes to Demarius Reed... one for 51-yards and another for 60-yards... both for touchdowns. He also had ran for over 200 yards in the contest.

No Public League team has won a state title, but Simeon has shown that they are a serious contender over the first three weeks.

Dominant with its rushing attack and defense in front of a packed house in Chicago's Mount Greenwood community, No. 1 St. Rita shut out rival Brother Rice 24-0 Saturday night in the Catholic League Blue opener for both teams. Travis Starks and Jahwon Akui helped the Mustangs dominate time of possession. Starks finished with 133 rushing yards and a score while Akui had a workmanlike 109 rushing yards on 25 carries with a touchdown.

T.F. South 35, T.F. North 14

The Rebel's continued their winning ways Friday night against rival T.F. North with a 35-14 win behind Kenny Jackson who ran for over 60 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

"We wanted to come out and play well," T.F. South quarterback Kevin Hallberg said. "What better game to do it than our rivalry game." Hallberg finished the contest with 113 yards and a touchdown.

South scored on five of its first six possessions in building a 35-6 lead.

Also the running back partner Giovanni Canty ran hard as well finishing the night with 67 yards and a touchdown.

The Meteors quarterback Calvin Lindsey was a bright spot for the team who finished the game with over 100 yards on the ground and in the air and touchdowns - one each way.

While Norman was chewing his way down the field, the game was clinched by the Vikings' defense, which stopped the Eagles on downs twice in their own territory in the game's final four minutes. The first of the two Sandburg drives sputtered at the Homewood-Flossmoor 8-yard line.
