SOUTH HOLLAND - In the battle of the South Suburbs... Dolton Bears visited the South Holland Jets. At the time of this writing all of the scores are not in but the Bears came out to set the tone for the rest of the season.

This game was tied at zero until late in the fourth when South Hollands' Malik Jones broke out for a 17 yard touchdown run for the only score of the game. 7 - 0

In this contest, Dolton opened up their offense scoring 27 points in the first half. Kush Baxter got the Bears on the board first. Shortly after that score, quarterback Jeleani Hardy followed suit with an explosive run for over 55 yards and a score. Hardy also threw a touchdown to Gregory Crump opening up a 21-0 lead all in the first half.

The Bears scored one more time before the half on a 2 yard run by Darius Coleman.

A bright spot for the Jets was the great concentration of an interception by Khaniah Perkins.

The season for both organizations kick-off next week. The Jets travel to University Park while the Bears travel to Steger, Frankfort, or Orland Park (split squad games).
