With 1:05 left in regulation, Rich South turned up their high-pressure style defense with the twins, CiErra and DeAsia Garrett, who forced multiple turnovers and the offensive stroke of freshmen Webb, took the lead 43-41. This was their first lead of the second half. But senior Stanford was fouled and nailed two free-throws to tie the game and send it into overtime.
In overtime, it was all Olympians. Stanford made a layup to get the first points, then birthday girl, Layne Murphy receive a couple fast break layups, and Warren seal the game with an uncontested layup of her own.
"Coming into this game, we knew it would take concentration and focus to win," said coach Bryan Craig. "We have the experience, we just need to execute."
Down the stretch, it was missed shots, including free throws, and turnovers that caused South to come up short in this contest.
Rich Central remains undefeated in the Southland conference. (2-0).
