16 points. Momence's Ishawn Thomas scored 12 in the loss.
The victory didn't come easy as Morgan Park controlled the tempo of the game stretching out to a 7-0 lead to start the game, and to take as much as a 13 point advantage in the second quarter, 37-24. Kendyl Nunn seemed to be on fire draining the long-ball at will, but foul trouble got to the Lady Mustangs as four of their five starters had 4 fouls in the fourth quarter. And this prove to slow the temp down and shift the momentum. |

When the smoke cleared, it was Blackshear on top not only with the victory but he outscored Randle by 5 with 18 points. "This was a big game and I wanted to do whatever I could for the team," Blackshear said. "We wanted to come out aggressive (second half) and we did." |

The main event game lived up to its billing in front a sold out crowd over 8,000. The Redwings secured the victory behind the red hot play of seven-foot, Wisconsin-bound center Frank Kaminsky who had a natural double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds). He also had 5 blocks and 4 assists. "Great game, great atmosphere," Kaminsky said. "We were able to make the clutch plays. They crushed us on the boards (33-23); they're so athletic. But we were able to get it done. We knew that if we played like we were capable, we had a chance to beat them." |

Rich South 55, Oak Forest 46
Was it revenge or did this game show gradual improvement for the Lady Stars?
Week one, Lady Bengals defeated Rich South 51-38 to start the season. After the
game, sophomore twin guard DeAsia Garrett said “it was revenge! Our coach kept
saying that to us, pay ’em back. We’ve improved as a team.” So, I guess it's a
little of both, but nonetheless, Rich South advanced in the girls Class 3A
playoff run winning the Bremen Regional 55-26 over Oak Forest.

The Stars kicked up their defensive pressure several notches which led to nine
key turnovers in the fourth quarter. Offensively, senior Jasmine Collins played
big. Her command on the court showed from directing teammates to doing all of
the dirty work in the paint including two key free-throws which sparked a 10-2
run which put the Bengals away. Collins finished the contest with 23.
DeAsia Garrett finished with eight steals, to go along with 17 points. D.
